Dear Chaplain Carr,
I took advantage of your mentor program when I was a inmate at MCIW and it was a great success to my life. It helped me several ways with my life.

I’m very thankful for my mentor, not only did she visit me while I was at MCIW, she also take time to stay in contact with me while I’m outside the walls.

She has helped me build a life spiritually that I was not before in that I was lost. She allowed me to gain a lot of insight of the woman I’m truly destine to become.

Chaplain I would encourage everyone woman to get into the program, because a mentor can be there to listen and spiritually help you grow. Once again I thank you and the Mentor Program for all the insight.

Sincerely Michelle

Dear Ms. Phyllis,

Thank you so much for all your concern and willingness to help me … I feel so much better knowing that there are people who really care and have the kind of compassion that you and all the members of CMAT shows us here. I can’t tell you of the heartache and sadness some of us have experienced due to abandonment of family and friends and feelings as if there is no one who cares about us. I have felt that way at various times through the years and really understand the effects of it. But thanks be to God that there are sincere Christians in the world that have offered their time, love and resources to the hurting and forgotten and the people who may just need a little help getting started. So please accept my gratitude for your assistance, I still am not exactly sure where I’m going but as the date gets closer I’m sure the Lord would have it worked out. My release date should be November 28th …. I’m hoping this is correct. I do need so much in clothing and I’m listing my sizes on the back of this letter. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Bishop Harry Jackson:

First would like to give honor to God, for He has truly revealed His Grace and Mercy through my journey. I am not sure if anyone here at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women extended their gratitude and appreciation. God has placed it on my heart to just simply say thank you.

We often times take for granted the people we do not see within all he ministries that come into this place. I am humbly appreciative for the prison ministry within the Hope Christian Church. Minister Joyce Jones has been a blessing to us ladies. Thank you for your leadership and support in her desire to serve the women here who are transitioning back out into society.

God has truly raised up a standard through Christ that I recognize through the Hope Christian Church prison Ministry. Whenever I am blessed to learn and grow from those who labor on the front line, I always think of the leader whom they follow. Laborers are a reflection of their leader and I humbly acknowledge the sincerity and compassion that comes with Minister Joyce, Ms. Maureen, and Sister. Cynthia, when they come to serve and fellowship. It is a blessing and an honor to follow such beautiful women of God. The fruit that you have produced has been dropping seeds.

I thank God for Jesus because it is through Jesus we feel the Spirit of God when His people come together. I do not know wheat plans God has for me beyond MCIW. I pray that He blesses me with the opportunity to visit your church. I thank you for caring. I thank you for entrusting the Prison Ministry to serve with a purpose.

I pray that God continues to bless you in all areas of your life. I pray that as you pour out; the Holy Spirit will continue to pour in. May this holiday season surround you with peace, love, and joy.

God Bless, Carlita
